My Art Work
Identity Collage:
The Real Anatomy of Art: |
Starting this project was a lot more difficult than I assumed it to be. I struggled with what picture to use for my project but I quickly found one that I wanted to recreate. I knew I wanted to make the picture as realistic as possible so I stuck with many of the colors that are present in the original picture. I added words to the background that describe me or are things that are important to me and I value.
Everything was going smoothly up until I began working on my face and skin. I found it was difficult to find similar shades and struggled to find ways to work on my nose. Eventually I decided it would be easiest to draw on my nose. While working on this self portrait I found very quickly that there were parts that I liked more than others. But coming to the end of the project gave me another look at myself and I realized that everybody's project is different and that is what makes us unique. |
The Value of Words: |
When Mrs. Tanttila first introduced this project, I knew exactly what I wanted mine to look like. I was super excited to be able to show my own skills and my way of seeing technology.
At the beginning of this project I had to rework a couple things. I reshaped the girls head and eyes to be more realistic and I had to figure out how the wires would overlap each other and go across the girls mouth. the more I got into this project the more excited I got to show my art skills and show my point of view on technology. I wanted the wires to represent the connection people can have through social media but also with the wires going over her mouth shows the silence that comes with social media. I think people tend to hide who they are and change how they are for social media. |

When we first started this project I had no idea what I wanted so I went and looked at some former students work for inspiration. I came across many different views of this project but I found what I wanted to do for this project as well. I wanted to share my biggest passion: dance. I've been in dance since I was little and instantly fell in love with the sport. I wanted to show a big part of my life and what makes me who I am today.
In the project I pictured one of my favorite moves which is the firebird leap. I surrounded the dancer with words that describe a dancer such as Strength, Passion, Flexible, and Control. The words in the back are the lyrics from our kick dance this year which is Salute by Little Mix. When I got about halfway through the project I decided to darken the words around the dancer to make them stand out and show the meaning and how those words are tied in with dance. |
Art Awareness:
|
ally When starting this project I didn't really know what issue I wanted to bring awareness to. But I also wanted to show an issue that most everyone cares about and I chose global warming. I did some research on the Arctic and found that animals living there are getting less food than what is sustainable for life and there is less ice for them to walk on and most of those animals cant spend their whole life in water. When I did my research I found pictures that I got ideas from and used it in my work. In my art I depicted a polar bear sitting on a melting iceberg. I used different brush strokes and added white in the water to show movement of the water. I used the orange and Yellow in the back ground to depict a sunrise and would foreshadow global warming.
When I began this project I kind of got into a flow and just began painting. I don't have very many progress pictures because of this. I really enjoyed working on this project to show my concern for global warming. |
